First-year Dees utility dropped in finals heartbreaker

First-year utility Bayley Fritsch is the preliminary finals heartbreak story after being dropped for the first time this year.

The 21-year-old, who was drafted after a breakout VFL season with the Casey Demons in 2017, has played 23 games in his debut season but makes way for tall defender Joel Smith.

West Coast have made one change for their clash against Melbourne, with Will Schofield replacing the injured Brad Sheppard.

In other team news, Dustin Martin has been named despite week-long speculation about his fitness after sustaining a cork injury two weeks ago.

Collingwood are unchanged.
