A large-scale search will resume at Blairgowrie this morning for a missing 78-year-old fisherman.

The 78-year-old left Wantirna to go fishing off rocks at the Blairgowrie back beach around 9am.

His family raised the alarm last night when he failed to return home.

Police searched the area around 10pm, locating his car on Number 16 Access Road.

The search resumed at first light.

Acting Senior Sergeant Kirby Tonkin spoke with Ross and John about the search.

It’s feared he may have been swept off the rocks.
