Fitzroy restaurant allowing non-Muslims to learn about Islamic faith and culture
A Fitzroy North restaurant is holding evenings for anyone with questions about Islam.
Being referred to as ‘speed-dating for Muslims’, it allows non-Muslim men and women to learn from Muslim women about faith and culture.
Hana Assafiri, chef at the Moroccan Soup Bar, told Tom Elliott the aim is to move beyond the ‘simplistic conversations’ usually associated with Islam.
‘Melburnians are looking for an alternative, more sophisticated, and humane conversation,’ Ms Assafiri said.
