Flooding causing heavy financial loss for crops and farmers
The recent flooding has caused a loss of up to five billion dollars worth of crops in both Victoria and New South Wales, devastating the farming community.
Chair of Grain Grovers, Brett Hosking, explained the far reaching effects the flooding has had in his local community of Quambatook in northern Victoria and beyond.
“It will have an impact for sure,” Mr Hosking told Neil Mitchell.
“It’s not like four to five billion lost to a corporate bank, it’s actually lost to mum and dad farmers living in rural communities, supporting their local stores and newsagents.”
“It’s everyday money that’s lost out of rural communities.”
