Food fight: the smoothie with more kilojoules than a Big Mac

Roni Beauchamp from the Heart Foundation told Ross and John juices and smoothies can be deceptively unhealthy.

‘To get a glass of juice, you’re getting far more than just your one or two pieces of fruit a day,’ Ms Beauchamp said.

‘What we’re most concerned about is what’s being branded as ‘healthy shakes’. They actually contain an enormous amount of sugar.’

3AW Breakfast producer Scorcher was drinking a breakfast smoothie that contained 2560 kilojoules.

That’s 560 more kilojoules than a Big Mac.
