Footscray Historical Society tired of syringes, wants safe injecting room
A pile of syringes in a Footscray thoroughfare has prompted calls for a safe injecting room in the suburb.
The President of the Footscray Historical Society told Tom Elliott the laneway between Napier and Cowper streets is littered with syringes.
Bill Horrocks said it’s about public safety.
‘We don’t want kiddies running around in bare feet,’ he said.
‘It’s an issue around harm minimisation – for the users, and for the thoroughfare.
‘I don’t want those needles on the street. If they had a place to go, we wouldn’t have those needles in the public place.’
