Footscray laneway set to be be named in honour of icon Jimmy Wong

A Footscray laneway could be named in honour of dim sim king Jimmy Wong.

The Maribyrnong Council will vote on the proposal tonight.

Councillor Catherine Cumming told 3AW Breakfast a laneway off Barkly Street had been suggested.

Mr Wong died earlier this year at the age of 75.

Cr Cumming said while Jimmy had passed on, the community continued to share great memories of his food over several decades.

She told 3AW Breakfast the family had kept the restaurant going and would appreciate the honour.
