Footy club ‘disappointed’ by undercover operation
The Knox Football and Netball Club has expressed its disappointment at news it’s the “target” of an undercover operation putting the heat on suburban clubs to tackle underage drinking.
It comes amid concerns about the lack of ID checking at local sports clubs.
Jane Barbanti, President of the Knox Football and Netball Club, said they felt unfairly targeted.
“I’m not going to be naive enough to say it doesn’t happen – I’m sure it does – but it’s also happening at nightclubs and bars, as well,” she said.
“I get a little disappointed that sporting clubs get targeted so often.
“We’re just a bunch of volunteers focused on providing a safe and inclusive environment for young men and women.”
