Forced stop for cars to make way for pedestrians at the MCG

There will be no quick escape for motorists trying to leave the MCG in the future.
Pedestrians will be given preference over motorists in a bid to ease the crowd crush from the ground.
Cars will be kept behind bollards from about 20 minutes before the end of a game.
And they will stay there until pedestrians have cleared to the nearby roads, tram stops and train stations.
The new system will be trailed for the first time at Sunday’s Big Bash League clash.
A review will be carried out after the summer of cricket and, if successful, will likely be rolled out permanently for next year’s AFL season.
