The firefighters pay row has taken a new twist with the MFB now lining up to take on the union over its new EBA.

Talks on the deal head back to the industrial umpire next Monday.

This comes just days after the on going row claimed the entire CFA board, its CEO Lucinda Nolan and wrecked the political future of Emergency Services Minister, Jane Garrett.

The former acting chairman of the CFA board, John Peberdy has now broken his silence, he spoke with Neil Mitchell.

‘We didn’t believe we would be acting in the best interests of the CFA’ – he told 3AW Mornings.
