Former AMA chief says budget funds won’t provide enough bulk-billing incentive

The federal government’s changes to Medicare don’t provide enough incentive for doctors to offer more widespread bulk-billing, warns a former AMA chief.

Funds in Tuesday’s budget were provide to give GPs greater incentives to bulk-bill pensioners, concession card holders and children under-16.

Altona GP Mukesh Haikerwal told Neil Mitchell that while it was a welcome injection of funds, it was really just a lifeline for those already offering bulk-billing.
