Former Greens leader Bob Brown arrested at Tasmanian logging protest
Former Greens leader Bob Brown has been released on bail after he was arrested during a logging protest in Tasmania.
The incident occurred at Lapoinya, where activists had been protesting against Forestry Tasmania.
Mr Brown was asked to leave the site but refused.
He later told media he did not go there with the intention of being arrested, but ‘decided to take a stand’ when he saw the destruction.
He has been charged with failing to comply with a direction to leave a business access area, and has been banned from going back to the Lapoinya logging area under the terms of his bail conditions.
Mr Brown is due to appear in court on March 15.
