Former Supreme Court judge on who is to blame for Lawyer X debacle
Former Supreme Court judge Stephen Charles KC has hit out at the state government over the Lawyer X debacle, stating “well over $200 million” of taxpayer money was used in the case, with no one set to be charged.
He believes the Andrews government did not give Justice Nettle the power to be able to lay charges on those involved in the scandal, which led to his own office being disbanded.
The former judge then claimed Victoria’s Director of Public Prosecutions, Kerri Judd, was then put in an “embarrassing situation” by the government as she “works with police all the time” and was in charge of deciding whether to prosecute the police officers involved.
