Former wedding dress maker Cyndi Briggs wins photography award

Mature-aged student Cyndi Briggs took up photography as a hobby after working from home as a wedding dress designer. 

She wanted to get out of the house and learn something fun, and enrolled in a photography diploma. 

Years later, she has won photography student of the year and an array of photography awards. 

Her exhibition ‘The Power of the Image’ is currently on display at Media House on Collins street. 

Speaking to Denis Walter on 3AW Afternoons, Ms Briggs said her exhibition featured heavily edited photos. 

She said she enjoys shooting all the elements of a photo, and then creating the image using those elements and Photoshop. 

‘Rather than take a photo, I would prefer to create a photo and take a lot of time on it.’
