Former youth justice worker blows whistle on how well youth offenders are treated
A former youth justice worker has provided a detailed insight into how well youth offenders are treated.
Dani, who used to work at the Parkville Youth Justice Precinct, told Jacqui Felgate she left her job because she feared for her life at certain points.
“I would best describe it as being a glorified babysitter to be honest, to a bunch of kids who couldn’t give a s**t about anyone but themselves,” Dani said on 3AW Drive.

“There was very minimal consequences for actions that weren’t supposedly allowed … coming in is just like a holiday to them.
“You feel like you have to have eyes in the back of your head … I saw things that people shouldn’t see.”
