Four killed in horror smash in Melbourne’s west

Four people have died and two others are fighting for life after an overloaded sedan collided with a truck in Melbourne’s west.

The tragic incident happened at Truganina about 7.30pm on Thursday.

Police said six people were in the Ford sedan when it collided head-on with a small truck on Dohertys Road.

Two of them died at the scene, with another two dying on arrival at hospital.

The other two occupants of the car remain in hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver and sole occupant of the truck was taken to hospital for observation.

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the devastating crash.
