Fourteen-year-old girl behind the wheel in fatal Hume Highway smash

A 14-year-old girl was behind the wheel of a car involved in a fatal crash on the Hume Highway this morning.

The girl was driving a grey Holden Captiva when she collided with a truck in Locksley, near Seymour, at about 8.30am.

A female passenger in the same vehicle — who has not yet been formally identified — died at the scene.

The 14-year-old girl sustained non-life-threatening injuries and has been airlifed to hospital under police guard.

A man also sustained minor injuries in the incident. The truck driver was not hurt.

Police are calling for anyone with information to come forward to police.
