Fremantle supporters ‘worse’ than soccer fans, says 3AW Drive host Tom Elliott

Fremantle supporters have shown themselves to be ‘worse’ than soccer fans and the time might have come to segregate AFL fans, says Tom Elliott.

There were several ugly scenes at Domain Stadium during Friday night’s preliminary final between the Dockers and Hawthorn.

The 3AW Drive host, who has previously slammed soccer fans for their behaviour at games, said Dockers fans had shown themselves to be even worse.

‘I reckon the Freo supporters must be considered the worst in the AFL now,’ Tom Elliott said.

‘In fact, they’re so bad ? I reckon they’re worse than soccer supporters.’

He said one particular incident, in which a man has been accused of hitting a woman, made him feel sick.

Tom said it was sad, but questioned whether the time had come to split up fans in the crowd.

‘Several years ago I gave soccer a big serve on this program,’ he explained.

‘I said soccer supporters were the worst behaved of any code of football ? the police backed me up on this ? and the reason they had to be segregated from each other is because they could not control their behaviour en masse.

‘Now I’m beginning to wonder whether the same is true of the AFL?’
