Disturbing allegations of bullying and harassment have surfaced within the Australian Defence Force.

3AW Drive reports the claims have come from a suicide note that was left by an ADF member, before they attempted suicide, while on deployment in Afghanistan last week.

Drive Producer Tom Andronas is following the story, telling Tom Elliott the member says they received no support, despite raising the issue with command.

‘They allege that their plea was swept under the carpet, they say the chain of command is rotten, and those are their words,’ Tom Andronas said on 3AW Drive.

‘Instead of fixing the problem, command made the member out to be part of the problem.

‘The member said they had had enough and can’t be part of it anymore.’

A defence spokesperson has released a statement saying an ADF member has been admitted to a specialist medical facility in Germany for treatment for a non-combat related medical issue.

The Defence Minister has also been contacted for comment.
