Fundraiser honouring much-loved greyhound raises staggering sum
A fundraiser honouring a much-loved greyhound by raising money to help find forever homes for other greyhounds has raised more than $85,000 in only three days.
Blue the Grey, who was a social media sensation with 46,000 Facebook followers, died on Thursday after a tumour was found on his heart.
His owner, Kimberley Oxley, was inundated by messages from people who wanted to send flowers and gifts, so she set up a GoFundMe to raise funds to help other greyhounds looking for forever homes.
The fundraiser has a target of $1000, but since being launched on Friday morning a staggering sum of more than $85,000 has been raised.
“I woke up hours later and I think it was nearly $10,000 and it’s just been a bit of a wild ride since,” Ms Oxley told Stephen Quartermain.
“It’s just so important to us that other dogs got the chance that Blue got.
