Gable Tostee acquitted of all charges over Warriena Wright’s death
Gold Coast man Gable Tostee is a free man after a Brisbane jury found him not guilty of murder or manslaughter.
The jury had been deliberating for four days after Tostee pleaded not guilty to killing New Zealand woman Warriena Wright.
Wright, a tourist visiting from New Zealand, fell 14 floors from Tostee’s balcony to her death during a Tinder date in 2014.
After four days of deliberations, the jury came to the verdict.
He was acquitted of all charges, including murder and manslaughter.
The crown had argued Ms Wright felt so intimidated that she fell to her death trying to flee after Tostee locked her onto the balcony.
Audio recordings were played to the court last week.
His lawyers argued he was trying to de-escalate what had become a violent situation.
