‘Gamble responsibly’ message to be ditched from betting ads

The “gamble responsibly” phrase included on betting advertising will soon be replaced.

The phrase will be replaced with new taglines including “Chances are you’re about to lose” and “Think. Is this a bet you really want to place?”.

Federal Social Services Minister Amanda Rishworth says the change comes after “gamble responsibly” was “found to be ineffective”.

“A lot of research was done, behaviour research to look at what type of tag lines would be effective,” she told Ross and Russel.

The new phrases must be implemented by March next year.
