There was controversy in Brisbane as play was stopped late in the piece while a stretcher was called for Swan ruckman Callum Sinclair.

Brisbane, trailing by three points, had the ball in attack when Sinclair injured at the other end of the ground.

Sinclair left the ground without the stretcher.

Dr Peter Larkins told Shane McInnes injured players should be helped as soon as possible.

‘The principle should be if a player needs to be stretchered off, you don’t wait minutes for him to get a stretcher,’ Dr Larkins said.

Carlton star Dale Thomas spoke to 3AW Football from the rooms.

FULL TIME

Carlton has kicked away for a 15-point win, their second win in a row.

It was a tight, ugly contest, befitting of two sides who won’t be challenging the top 8 this season.

Dale Thomas was outstanding, racking up his first 30-disposal game in navy blue.

Matt Wright booted two goals for Carlton, while Bombers Mitch Brown and Darcy Parish also kicked two.

HALF TIME

It’s Carlton by 15 points in a scrappy game. Incredibly, there were no goals in the second quarter.

Carlton is riding high after its first win for the season, and Brendon Bolton’s first win as a (non-caretaker) head coach.

The Bombers were trounced by Collingwood last week, and would hate to lose to another rival in Round 6.

Wins will be rare for both of these sides this season, and both wil see this a chance to snare four valuable points.
