The results have fallen their way, so Melbourne’s glimmer of hope for reaching the finals remains alight.

If they beat Carlton and Geelong, and North Melbourne loses to GWS next week, the Demons could well be playing off in an Elimination Final.

But the Demons have an unfortunate record of disappointing when expectation is high.
