The results have fallen their way, so Melbourne’s glimmer of hope for reaching the finals remains alight.

If they beat Carlton and Geelong, and North Melbourne loses to GWS next week, the Demons could well be playing off in an Elimination Final.

But the Demons have an unfortunate record of disappointing when expectation is high.

Before they can think of the finals, they’ll have to get past the Blues, who have shown this year that they can match it on their day.
