Essendon backman Michael Hartley spoke to 3AW Football in the rooms.

Hartley said the Bombers knew Collingwood would come out firing but didn’t brace for it.

The Big American Mason Cox spoke to 3AW Football in the rooms after the game.

Cox said he initially had to search YouTube to learn what AFL was.

‘It came up with Worst Hits in AFL and I was double-thinking it!’ he said.

Collingwood has won an anti-climactic Anzac Day match by 69 points.

Steele Sidebottom won the Anzac Medal for his 33 touches and four goals – three of which came in the match-winning first quarter.

Collingwood has sprinted out to a 76-point lead at the main break

Steele Sidebottom (20 disposals, four goals) has started brilliantly, while Scott Pendlebury (23 touches, four tackles) has made a timely return to form.

American import Mason Cox booted the first goal of the game on debut – see Tim Lane’s call of the goal below.

Magpie utility Tyson Goldsack told 3AW Football the heat on Travis Cloke is largely unfair.

He said it was unlucky that the reserves got ‘smacked’ as it meant Cloke struggled to get his hands on the ball.

Essendon Chairman Lindsay Tanner told 3AW Monday Football the Bombers won’t accept an honourable loss – especially to Collingwood.
