Jack Viney (31 touches, seven tackles) and Dom Tyson (24 touches, two goals) were outstanding, while Max Gawn dominated the ruck all day.

Suspended Demon Bernie Vince joined the 3AW Football commentary box before the game.

Vince said the side’s comeback last week showed the growth in maturity of this new crop of players. 

He also said Jesse Hogan loves Melbourne, and hopes the club creates an environment Hogan will want to play in.

Collingwood CEO Gary Pert spoke to 3AW Football before the game.

Pert said he thinks long-term contracts for coaches will be phased out, and that Nathan Buckley will probably only get one-year extensions from here.

He also backed Eddie McGuire’s comments about Buckley as something ‘anyone would want their President to say’.

Collingwood is in the spotlight after limp efforts against Sydney and St Kilda early in 2016. 

But the Pies will be boosted by the returns of Steele Sidebottom, Travis Varcoe, and Alan Toovey for this afternoon’s clash with Melbourne at the MCG.

Melbourne, too, has come under fire, particularly for their loss to Essendon in Round 2.
