Geelong defender Tom Lonergan confessed that he is ‘tight with his money’, which was his deterrent from getting involved in the quarter time melee.

Despite saying he doesn’t believe the Cats are playing their best football, he was rapt with teh support he had down back while holding down Charlie Dixon.

‘He’s certainly got a lot of talent. It was dangerous at times, but I got a bit of support from the guys down back so that was good.’

FULL TIME

Geelong were far too good after quarter time. Port Adelaide failed to fire a shot after the first break with some of its stars struggling to get involved at all.

Hartlett, Gray and Wingard are just a few of the many Port Adelaide players who struggled to perform.

Meanwhile for Geelong, it was a superb effort and a dominant display to win by 48 points. Since quarter time, Geelong kicked 15 goals to 3.

Patrick Dangerfield’s brilliant second quarter helped Geelong not only get back into the match, but in front by half time.

It was a six goal quarter from the Cats in what has been a heated match all over the ground.

Geelong captain Joel Selwood has 17 disposals and his rival captain Travis Boak has 16.

The pressure is on for Port Adelaide who came into 2016 with high expectations.

So far, they have just one win which came against the Bombers. Last week’s performance against GWS saw them lose by 86 points and chairman David Koch tweeted his thoughts, labelling it ‘a disgrace’.

Meanwhile Geelong have won three matches this season and travel to Adelaide to stay in touch with the top sides.
