Dale Thomas’ manager Paul Connors spoke to 3AW before the game.

He said the decision to remove the extra-year trigger from his contract was initiated by Thomas.

“He just wants to play footy,” Connors said.

There was an option of a contract extension based on how many games Thomas played this season.

Carlton goal-kicking coach Sav Rocca spoke to 3AW before the game.

He spoke about goal-kicking, why it appears to be worse than ever this year, and why it can be harder to kick set shots from close range.

“A follow-through is really important,” Rocca said.

“I don’t like seeing guys that are 30m out just toe-poking it through.”

Rocca spoke about how he’s helped turn Levi Casboult’s kicking around.

Casboult has struggled with his goal-kicking in previous years, but has kicked 13.4 in 2017.
