St Kilda CEO Matt Finnis has called on broadcasters to be responsible when airing on-field comments.

Heath Shaw found himself in hot water on Saturday after an on-field sledge was picked up by TV microphones.

Finnis said players know why umpires wear microphones on the field.

‘Players understand it’s an entertainment business,’ Finnis said.

‘But I think it’s also incumbent on the broadcasters to be responsible with the way that’s managed.’
