Gary Ablett reveals he may retire in interview with The Footy Show
AFL great Gary Ablett says he may retire at the end of the season.
It comes after Gold Coast knocked back his request to be traded back to Geelong at the end of last year.
The two-time Brownlow medallist told Channel 9 he was dealing with personal issues, refusing to commit to the final year of his current contract with the Suns.
‘This may be my last season,’ he said on The Footy Show.
‘I’ve got some things going on in my life that I’m not going to elaborate on, but they’re my No.1 priority at the moment.
‘I’ve said to the club I’m super committed to this year and will give it everything, but I don’t know what 2018 holds for me.’
Ablett has faced a storm of criticism following the Suns’ 102-point loss to Greater Western Sydney.
