Gas prices are about to rise. 

The Victorian government has banned gas exploration, and much of the existing gas Australia is producing is being exported.

It has created a shortage of supply, which means the price will increase.

Tom Elliott said it doesn’t make sense.

‘I, for one, don’t understand why, if we have gas under the ground here in Victoria, why we have to import more expensive gas,’ he said.

Energy analyst Ben Freund told Tom the reasons are political.
