Geelong restaurant refuses entry to autistic nine-year-old’s assistance dog
A Geelong eatery has refused entry to an assistance dog providing support to an autistic nine-year-old.
Kate visited the eatery with her nine-year-old son Noah and his assistance dog Claudia on Sunday morning.
They were greeted by a waiter who informed them dogs weren’t allowed in. When Kate produced Claudia’s public access licence and explained she has the same entrance rights as a guide dog, he told her “We don’t let them in either, boss says no”.
Bystanders chimed in, informing the waiter that refusing entry to the dog was illegal, but it made no difference.
The ordeal upset Noah.
“He hid under a blanket the whole way home,” Kate said.
3AW Mornings has reached out the the cafe for comment and is awaiting a response.
