Geelong West Presbyterian Church destroyed by fire
A Geelong church has been completely destroyed by fire.
It’s being treated as suspicious.
Around 30 firefighters battled the blaze at Geelong West Presbyterian Church on Pakington Street after being called around 4.30am.
They arrived in time to stop it from spreading, however the church and adjacent hall were both lost.
‘It’s still too dangerous to go in, but at this stage it’s being treated as suspicious,’ Geoff McGill from the CFA told 3AW Breakfast.
Church elder Luke McSevity says he doesn’t believe anyone would want to destroy the church.
‘The church has a very good history with the community,’ he said.
