Geoff Walsh says Daniel Wells will vindicate Collingwood’s decision to recruit him

Collingwood football manager Geoff Walsh has defended the club’s decision to recruit Daniel Wells.

He says he’s confident the veteran midfielder, who has been battling injuries, will eventually vindicate the three-year deal the Pies gave him.

‘There’s no doubt we’ve backed him in,’ Walsh said on 3AW Football.

‘I’ve had a fair bit to do with him at the previous club – I think we all know he’s an exquisite talent and a game-changer and game-turner.’

Walsh said Wells had been training strongly.

‘He’s over the hump now,’ he said.

‘I hear the noise outside the footy club but I think in the end, he’ll prove it’s the right decision.’
