Victoria is wasting billions on excessively generous construction union wage deals, according to the Institute of Public Affairs.

The IPA has released a new research paper, in which it found that Melbourne had close to the highest labour costs per square metre in the world, second only to New York.

But why?

‘Because we’ve seen overly generous, sweetheart deals, between various governments and unions like the CFMEU,’ Gideon Rozner told Tom Elliott.

‘These are arrangements that don’t deliver Victorians value for money.’

Mr Rozner said 200 additional 24-hour police stations could be built with the excess money being spent.
