AFL boss Gil McLachlan is hopeful Channel Nine’s takeover of the Australian Open Tennis will mean more opportunities for the AFLW.

To the frustration of many fans, the women’s competition was almost exclusively kept to Channel Seven’s secondary channels, 7mate and 7TWO, this year.

But with Channel Seven no longer hosting the Australian Open from 2020, McLachlan sniffs an opportunity.

“Hopefully we’re on the primary channel,” McLachlan told Neil Mitchell
