Gillon McLachlan rules out expanding the Women’s league in 2018

Gillon McLachlan has ruled out expansion of the AFL Women’s league in 2018.

The AFL CEO told 3AW Saturday Football the second year is about consolidating the strong start the competition made in its inaugural season.

‘We’re trying to manage being bold and progressive and also getting the roots down,’ McLachlan said.

‘Global experience shows that year two is the hardest.

‘The standard will improve dramatically.’

McLachlan also said he doesn’t know what more he can do to help Ben Cousins.
