Glen Eira council approves guns for security guards in secret meeting
It’s believed Glen Eira councillors voted to let security guards carry guns to protect the Jewish community in a closed meeting.
The move could see armed private guards attending events in public parks.
One of the councillor’s who opposed the closed meeting, Mary Delahunty, spoke to Neil Mitchell this morning.
She said she’s concerned by comments from the Jewish Community Council of Victoria that armed guards in the community are ‘no big deal’.
But she couldn’t say much more, because her opposition to the closed meeting was overruled.

Premier Daniel Andrews later expressed concern of the decision.
‘We want to see less guns in our community, not more,’ he said.
