Independent Senator Glenn Lazarus has revealed a very personal reason was a major factor why he called for a national inquiry into alcohol-fuelled violence.

The Queensland politician has established a parliamentary inquiry into the matter.

He told Tom Elliott on 3AW Drive he was ‘sick and tired’ of hearing about attacks at pubs and clubs every weekend.

He revealed his own son had been one.

‘Late last year my wife and I got a phone call to say my son had been glassed at a night club,’ Mr Lazarus explained.
