Feel-good story of the day: Go-kart champion gives up on trophies for little mate
A champion junior go-karter says he didn’t think twice before giving up on victory to help an opponent trapped under his kart with a fractured wrist.
Emerson Harvey, 14, disqualified himself from the race when he saw Matteo, 11, in bad trouble.
“I’ve come across the corner and seen him flip over on his head,” Emerson told Neil Mitchell.
“I thought my friend was in a bit of strife, so I thought it’d be good to get him out.”
