Government cracking down on City Loop trespassers with increased security

Jacqui Felgate

The Andrews Government will spend $134 million to crack down on City Loop intruders.

New findings reveal at least 50 people a year are accessing the underground tunnels.

It’s understood many intruders are doing so to vandalise or take selfies.

The safety and security upgrade will see new intruder detection technology installed as well as new fire prevention systems.

Public Transport Minister Jacinta Allan says accessing the loop is reckless and dangerous and – ‘It’s just a plain stupid thing to do’.
