Graffiti artist in standoff with emergency services atop Bolte Bridge

Two lanes of the Bolte Bridge southbound are closed after a vandal scaled one of its pylons and painted the notorious Pam the Bird graffiti tag near the top.

In a video posted to social media, the person could be heard saying: “I’m not coming down until they lower the taxes.”

Seven Sunrise reporter Andrew McCormack told 3AW Breakfast hosts Jimmy Bartel and Mark Allen it looked like the vandal was in a standoff with police.

“At this stage it doesn’t look like he’s coming down soon at all,” he said.

Victoria Police report media officer Katherine McLeod said police had sent a “significant amount of units” in response to the incident and were doing their best to get the person down.
