Graham Ashton has denied claims from Cardinal George Pell that information was leaked to the media about an investigation into allegations of child sexual abuse.

Two alleged victims spoke out last night on the ABC, claiming Cardinal Pell touched them inappropriately at a Ballarat swimming pool in the late 1970s.

Police are waiting to hear from the Office of Public Prosecutions on whether charges should be laid.

Cardinal Pell has vehemently denied the allegations – and others – that formed part of the Taskforce SANO investigation.

He wants to know how the media got hold of them.

But the Chief Police Commissioner told Neil Mitchell it was the alleged victims who are speaking out.

‘I’m sure it’s not the police here,’ Commissioner Ashton said on 3AW Mornings.
