The Police Commissioner has called for tougher laws when it comes to ramming a police car.

He’s also discouraged the public from intervening with pursuits.

It comes after 3AW Breakfast caller Chris described how he rammed a Holden Barina being chased through Melbourne’s outer east on Thursday.

Graham Ashton said it was fraught with danger.

‘It’s a big risk,’ he told Neil Mitchell.

‘It’s exactly what we want to avoid.’
