Grand Final ceremony on AFL’s radar for Jared Tallent
An MCG gold medal ceremony for Jared Tallent is on the AFL’s radar.
It has been suggested that Tallent should have his retrospective medal awarded to him ahead of the grand final or a key AFL fixture, where the MCG would be set to have a capacity crowd.
One potential issue which it faces is the Australia Olympic Committee’s concern of advertising at the ground throughout the ceremony.
AFL CEO GIllon McLachlan is keen to sort out a solution.
‘I would endeavour to talk to our partners about that,’ McLachlan told Neil Mitchell.
‘I’m serious about this, we will do whatever we can to help, because I reckon it would be great.’
Tallent will be retrospectively awarded his gold medal from the 50km walk event at London 2012 Olympics, where he lost to Russian drug cheat Sergey Kirdyapkin.
