Grave concerns are held for a missing grandfather who has spent his fourth night in the state’s alpine region.

More than 140 emergency services personnel are searching for Christos who was last seen in Dinner Plain on Friday afternoon.

Conditions in the area have worsened. The temperature fell to -3 overnight, and there are wind gusts of up to 70km/h and snow flurries expected later today.

9News reporter Lana Murphy told Ross and Russel the working theory is the 70-year-old may have fallen, hit his head and become disoriented.

“The hope then is that he’s been able to find shelter somewhere,” she said.

“There’s lots of empty and vacant accommodation, so that theory is obviously very plausible.”
