Greek Orthodox church fire in East Melbourne suspicious
UPDATE: The fire which caused extensive damage to Victoria’s oldest Greek Orthodox Church has been deemed suspicious.
The East Melbourne church, on the corner of Lansdowne St and Victoria Parade, was burned badly on Monday.
The fire took hold in the roof around 1.30pm, with flames then leaping from the windows.
Nobody was inside at the time.
Fire crews contained the blaze to the roof, with the damage inside still being assessed.
