Greens latest party to call out Daniel Andrews over fracking ‘misinformation’ campaign

Tom Elliott

The Greens are the latest political party to call out Daniel Andrews over claims the only way to extract onshore gas in Victoria is by fracking.

A pre-election stoush has erupted over an alleged “misinformation” campaign by Labor claiming the Liberal Party wants to frack for gas, which is currently banned by law.

The Liberals say gas can be sourced onshore without using the controversial method, and have promised they won’t, but Daniel Andrews maintains there are “no reserves” of gas in Victoria that can be extracted onshore using conventional methods.

“I don’t think that’s correct,” Greens MP, Dr Tim Read, told Neil Mitchell.

“But the key point I’m hearing from voters is that they want us to be using less fossil fuels, not more.”
