Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young says Nationals MP George Christensen “needs to go” after he posed on social media with a handgun.

Ms Hanson-Young has also revealed she’d been sent an email from a “supporter” of Mr Christensen in the wake of the scandal.

She republished the threat on her own Twitter account.

The sender said they hoped “George has one left in the chamber to fire directly into your vagina you (expletive) (expletive)”.

Mr Christensen posted his photo at the weekend with the caption “You gotta ask yourself, do you feel lucky, greenie punks.”

The Greens reported the post to police.

“These things are not a joke, Neil,” Ms Hanson-Young said.

“He’s a member of parliament.

“It’s not just like being an every day member of the community.

“When you sign up to be a member of parliament, you have a responsibility to behave appropriately and I don’t believe he has.”
