Children as young as 12 are now approved to get the Pfizer vaccine in Australia.

The health minister Greg Hunt spoke with Neil Mitchell on Friday to explain the changes.

He said there would be multiple benefits in vaccinating teenagers.

“It’s both an individual protection and it can help protect their family,” he said.

Pregnant women are now also eligible to receive Pfizer.
